JOINT SPONSORSHIP
Kyoosai
The Kyoosai or “co-sponsorship” system is one where a member association holds a public event in joint sponsorship with the UALS. In this system, the UALS provides a grant of 30,000 yen* per event for up to 5 events in one fiscal year. The event poster and/or other publicity will clearly state “co-sponsorship with the UALS”.
(*This amount can be reviewed.)
Requirements:
- An event is open to the public and no admission is charged.
- An event is reviewed by the UALS Steering Committee for openness and public access.
- Application is limited to 1 per member association per year (from April 1 to March 31 of the previous year).
Procedure:
- Application period: December 1 to the end of February (for an event planned for the next fiscal year)
- Application procedure: Apply to the UALS Office using the designated form with the following event information: title, purpose, time, and place.
- Review: The UALS Steering Committee will review the applications for openness and public access (i.e., The proposed event is open to nonmembers of the association and intended for a general audience as well as specialists.). The applicant will be informed of the UALS Steering Committee’s decision in a timely manner.
- Number of grants: 5 per year. When there are more than 5 applications, first, the association that has previously received funding will be eliminated; second, the UALS Office will use a lottery to select 5 requests and notify the applicants of the result.
- Grant procedure: The member associations who will receive the grant should inform the UALS Office of their bank account information. The UALS Office will transfer the grant to the member’s bank account. A deposit is made within the fiscal year of the application.
- Changes and completion: If there are any changes in the event information or the event is completed, the member association should inform the UALS Office accordingly.
- If an event was cancelled for an unavoidable reason, the member association will return the grant to the UALS.
