JOINT SPONSORSHIP

Kyoosai

The Kyoosai or “co-sponsorship” system is one where a member association holds a public event in joint sponsorship with the UALS. In this system, the UALS provides a grant of 30,000 yen* per event for up to 5 events in one fiscal year. The event poster and/or other publicity will clearly state “co-sponsorship with the UALS”. (*This amount can be reviewed.)

Requirements:

  1. An event is open to the public and no admission is charged.
  2. An event is reviewed by the UALS Steering Committee for openness and public access.
  3. Application is limited to 1 per member association per year (from April 1 to March 31 of the previous year).

Procedure:

  1. Application period: ① In early December to the end of February (for an event planned for the next fiscal year), ② In late June to the end of September
  2. Application procedure: Apply to the UALS Office using the designated form with the following event information: title, purpose, time, and place.
  3. Review: The UALS Steering Committee will review the applications for openness and public access (i.e., The proposed event is open to nonmembers of the association and intended for a general audience as well as specialists.). The applicant will be informed of the UALS Steering Committee’s decision in a timely manner.
  4. Number of grants: 8 per year. (6 at the first application period, 2 at the second application period) When there are less than 6 applications at the first application period, the rest  is carried over to the second application period. When there are more than 8 applications, first, the association that has previously received funding will be eliminated; second, the UALS Office will use a lottery to select 8 requests and notify the applicants of the result.
  5. Grant procedure: The member associations who will receive the grant should inform the UALS Office of their bank account information. The UALS Office will transfer the grant to the member’s bank account. A deposit is made within the fiscal year of the application for the first application period (i.e., by the end of March), and by the end of October for the second application period.
  6. Changes and completion: If there are any changes in the event information or the event is completed, the member association should inform the UALS Office accordingly.
  7. If an event was cancelled for an unavoidable reason, the member association will return the grant to the UALS.

  2. An event is reviewed by the UALS Steering Committee on openness and public access.

The applicant will be informed of the UALS Steering Committee’s decision in a timely manner.
